History of the Poets
Going back to the 14th and 15th centuries we see poet guilds as a part of the everyday natural cultures. In the beginning, the art of poetry was simply defined as philosophical writings and never taken to the public. Hoarded by the educated and religious sectors of these Dark Ages, it was not until the turn of the 1800's that we see a public outcry for domesticated Poets. The German culture expounded on what those in Greece started in the 300's! So Credit is due where it is most deserved and no offense to the English, sorry you did not make poetry what it is today. Granted there were many fine Poets from England and its territories. But through out history and all the words written, we must all agree Poets are not as common as most would think. From the beginning of time, to the end of time, we will see Poets. I hope that through this new age of technology we can see an increase of a dying breed. Stated by William De'Foe, "Poets are not those of weak nature but of strong minds, their dreams and hopes have kept nations abreast and cultures alive; and even in death it has eased the pains of many a loved one."
Today, Poets seem to be a dying breed; and unlike early Poets which consisted mostly of men, we now give credit to some of the finest poetry to the women whose adverse lives have reflected greatly on poetry. It is said "there is a bit of Poetry in everyone" I attest that if you fail to believe in this you are sadly misdirected. Of course this is my personal opinion and I give great respect to the opinions of others. I hope to say that as you progress through your life; that someone or something will charge you to sit and write if not for a lover, friend or family member do it just for your self. I am not the greatest of Poets, nor am I the worst. I write on a daily basis to simply relieve my mind of the thoughts that at times grudgingly overwhelm my heart and soul. I give God all the Glory for my life and for my ability to write. He in turn knows the needs and desires of my Heart and Soul and with that said, the rest is left in your hands to interpret the rest of my web site with your heart and soul; simple because, that is where it comes from.
